Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that it is the need of hour to review policies regarding Afghan refugees and foreign affairs to ensure protection and security in the country. In wake of Peshawar tragedy, deployment of sufficient FC platoons province's borders with FATA would not only protect Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but the entire country from infiltration of unwanted and terrorist elements, the chief minister said.
He said that provincial government has demanded repatriation of FC to the province.
The chief minister said that his government would ensure internal security of the province and would make foolproof security arrangements for all cities under safe city project as well as proper legislative cover would also be provided to all such measures wherein responsibilities of public, private institutions and individuals would also be fixed accordingly.
He said this while chairing a high level meeting about legislation on Security of Sensitive Installation & Vulnerable Places Bill and later talking to journalists.
The meeting discussed the draft of the Bill and approved it in light of the proposals and recommendations of the participants.
Besides provincial ministers Imtiaz Shaid Quershi, Ikramullah Gandapur and other concerned Assembly members from coalition government and opposition benches, Secretary Home Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Secretary Law Muhammad Airfeen Khan, Inspector General Police Nasir Khan Durrani and other attended the meeting. Both the treasury and opposition members welcomed the comprehensive legislation for protection of the people, besides assuring all out support to the government over the law and order issue.
Chief Minister reiterated that they could emerge as a glorious nation if all and sundry including the legislators and people strictly abide by the constitution and laws.
Khattak deplored that most of terrorism-related damages could have been avoided and culprits apprehended had adequate security steps been be taken, CCTV cameras installed at important installation and latest technology used well in time.
He agreed that security of all public and private installations, buildings and sensitive places was impossible for the government alone. However, he said the joint efforts and sharing of responsibilities by private institutions and different segments of society could ensure 100 percent safety and security.
