Russian couple divorces after squabble over Ronaldo and Messi

A couple in Russia got into a pointless dispute about who is a better football player, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, which has ultimately resulted in a divorce.

According to Moscow Newspaper, the couple, Arsen and Lyudmila, started fighting when Arsen was celebrating the victory of Messi from Argentina who defeated Nigeria. However, things got worse when Lyudmila argued that Ronaldo is better than Messi, to which Arsen packed his stuff and left the home.

Upon asking Arsen about the reason, he said, “Since the beginning of the World Cup, she mocked Messi and said he couldn’t even score a penalty against Iceland. I could not contain myself and told her what I thought about the vain Ronaldo, the Portuguese national team and all the clubs she likes. Then I took my belongings and left her forever”.

The couple has met while watching FIFA World Cup 2002, as per Taiwan News. Both of them had been fans of football even before they met in a bar.

Both the teams of Ronaldo and Messi got eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2018 in the round of 16 on the same day. Messi’s Argentina lost 4-3 to France and hours later, Ronaldo’s Portugal went down 2-1 to Uruguay.
