The rupee moved cautiously against the dollar on the local currency market on Friday, dealers said. The rupee shed three-paisa versus the dollar for buying at Rs 101.08 while it showed no change for selling at Rs 101.10, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee dropped by 10-paisa in terms of dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.40 and Rs 101.60 respectively, however it lost 50-paisa in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.00 and Rs 115.25 respectively, they said.
In the final Asian trade, commodity currencies nursed hefty losses on Friday, as investors sent the Australian dollar to 5 1/2 year lows as they bet on the Australian central bank reducing interest rates when it meets next week.
While currencies from energy and resource producing countries, such as Canada and Australia, struggled under the weight of falling energy prices, the dollar, yen and euro were locked in familiar ranges. The rupee was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 61.72, the greenback was available at 3.6220 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2505 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee maintained upward slide for another day and was marginally improved by five-paisa in relation to the US dollar on the local currency market on Friday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at its overnight closing of Rs 101.55 and Rs 101.80 as its buying and selling rate, respectively. The dollar remained under selling pressure during the day and was ended further lower at Rs 101.50 and Rs 101.75 on buying and selling side, respectively, the dealers said.
Likewise, the rupee continued rising trend and was further improved against the pound sterling. The pound's buying and selling rate was declined from Thursday closing of Rs 153.40 and Rs 153.65 to Rs 152.50 and Rs 152.75, respectively, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained strength against the dollar on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 100.75 (buying) and Rs 101 (selling) against last rate of Rs 101 (buying) and Rs 101.25 (selling). It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 100.75 (buying) and Rs 101 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 152 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 152 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling).
