At the United Nations, Pakistan has underscored the need for ending impunity for perpetrators involved in violence against women during conflicts. Pakistan's permanent envoy Masood Khan took part in a debate on protection of civilians in armed conflicts at the UN Security Council. He said women and girls conditions are most vulnerable during conflicts across the globe.
The Pakistani envoy said peacekeeping missions should pay attention to the protection of civilians during the conflicts. Masood Khan pointed out that violence against women was now being used as an instrument of war in a number of states. He said existing measures should be further refined to bring criminals involved in such crimes to justice.
