Nur Centre for Research and Policy (NCRP) organized the second chapter of its advocacy event titled, "Living Book Series", in Okara to highlight the importance of healthcare and nutrition towards educational performance of the school going children. The lecture was held at Government Girls High School Chak 1/4 L, Okara.
The lecture highlighted mental and physical health and nutrition challenges confronting school going children of Pakistan. The main idea was to highlight the vulnerability of school going children to several health related problems due to lack of proper health and hygiene facilities at their homes and schools which can affect their physical and mental development and educational performance.
Dr Attique Lashari, Project Director DHDC Okara, advised the students to avoid eating junk food. M Jawad Tahir, Nutrition Supervisor Okara stressed upon avoiding the use of whitening creams readily available in the market as these creams are a leading cause of skin cancer in girls. He stressed upon eating a balanced diet for healthier and beautiful skin.
"Skipping breakfast leads to weight gain, weakness, fatigue and increased impulses for un-healthy food," Farkhanda Ali, Principal, Government Girls' High School, Laasharian, Okara said. Representatives from DHDC, Health, and Education departments were present at this event. The guests appreciated the efforts of NCRP and stressed upon the dire need to organise such informative lectures for the students.-PR
