Leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have asked Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan to appear before the Supreme Court and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to clear his position over foreign funding case and other charges.
PML-N leaders including State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, MNA Daniyal Aziz, State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhary and ex-MNA Hanif Abbasi said this while talking to the media after hearing of a case by the Supreme Court regarding offshore companies of Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen.
They said that PTI leader has been levelling baseless allegations against the PML-N leadership for the last four years and now he should face corruption charges before the apex court and the ECP. Chaudhary said that the chairman PTI has double standard on the issue of corruption and pointed out that he accuses others of tax evasion with reference to setting up offshore companies but describe his own off-shore companies as a mean to evade tax. He further said that the chairman PTI has been unable to justify how he got his Bani Gala property.
Hanif Abbasi, who is petitioner in the case, said his case is aimed at exposing real face of PTI leadership. Abbasi said that the Prime Minister has not only presented himself for accountability but his three generations as well. MNA Daniyal Aziz said, "The PTI has no money trail of the foreign funding." "Anarchy in Pakistan is the aim of foreign funding," Aziz commented.
The PML-N leader explained how the Constitution states that any political party associated with foreign funding will loose its political standing. "Foreign funding was carried out through two companies," he added. He said that the PTI lawyers have once again requested the ECP to provide them more time. Aziz commented, "Imran Khan! your money trail is absent," and that there is some ulterior motive behind this.
Separately, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said a massive awareness media campaign will be launched for the prevention of lethal diseases. She was addressing a function in connection with World Thalassaemia Day in Islamabad on Monday.
The minister said that all the departments of the ministry including Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television will be asked to broadcast special programmes for the prevention of chronic diseases and disorders like Thalassaemia and HIV.
She said all the private channels will also be included in the campaign as it is the responsibility of all to play due role in this regard. The minister said that legislation for the prevention of Thalassaemia has been done in the National Assembly. She said according to the legislation, blood test for Thalassaemia will be mandatory before marriage. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that a Thalassaemia centre has been set up in Islamabad under Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal. She said similar centres are also being opened at the district level.
