The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has clarified that the FBR is fully cognizant of its legal obligations and all record in its possession in respect of any person including Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has been provided to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on its requisitions. According to a press release issued by the FBR here on Sunday, FBR is fully cognizant of its legal obligations and is wholeheartedly cooperating with the JIT.
All record in its possession in respect of any person including that of the Finance Minister has been and is being provided to the JIT on its requisitions. FBR has already provided record of Finance Minister to JIT and certain record as old as of assessment years 1981-82 and onwards has been submitted to JIT.
Minister of Finance has given categorical and explicit directions to FBR to fully cooperate with the JIT and to provide all record in possession of FBR and required by JIT in respect of each and every individual or entity for the purposes of concluding its on-going investigations. FBR takes this opportunity to once again express its resolve to continue fulfilling its legal and national obligations without any discrimination.
Federal Board of Revenue has expressed its serious concerns over a news report appearing in a section of the press on 24th June 2017. The report falsely gives an impression and alleges that the tax record of the Minister for Finance and Revenue was not being provided by FBR to JIT constituted by the Honourable Supreme Court, because the Finance Minister is directly controlling FBR.
The above report is totally false, baseless and nothing more than an attempt to cast aspersions on the integrity of the Finance Minister and FBR and to bring them to disrepute.-PR
