ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday said the opposition wanted a debate on rising inflation and increasing consumer prices of oil, gas and food items.
Taking part in a debate on the floor of the National Assembly here, he said the people were facing economic difficulties as the prices were going up.
He said the political parties gave sacrifices for the sake of democracy and rights of the people.
He thanked the Speaker for issuing production orders of Saad Rafique as it was a democratic demand of the opposition and was supported by the parties which were even in the government.
Speaking about creation of new South Punjab province, he said Pakistan Peoples Party was proud that it brought the issue of a new province to the mainstream political discussion and got the resolution passed from the assembly of Punjab and Senate in the past. A bill was also got passed in the Senate by PPP.
He said vision of PPP was guided by the principle of federation and people of South Punjab deserved their own province.
Despite the passing of 100 days, he allegeed, the PTI government did not do anything on the issue, however it seemed that the government was getting serious on the issue.
He claimed that the members of the Parliament were being harassed and “a democratic civilian government” was putting their names on Exit Control List (ECL).
