Malala shares heartfelt note as she takes on #10yearchallenge
The ongoing #10YearChallenge has spread like a wild fire. While many celebrities have been sharing their 10-year-old pictures to remember how time flies, young Pakistani Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has given an interesting yet emotional take on this recent trend.
Malala became nostalgic as she thought of her 11-year-old self in Swat valley, when she lived under terrorism and violence whereas firing and bombing became their daily wake-up calls.
While writing her regular blog, she took the #10YearChallenge and wrote, “As an 11 year old, I worried about my future and my freedom. All I wanted was to put on my ink-stained scarf, walk through the streets, sit on our old wooden chairs inside those cracked walls, pick my pen, open my book”.
When I saw the #10YearChallenge, I started thinking about my life when I was 11 years old and how different it was then. #EducationDay https://t.co/IX7xBKxu6g

She further added, “Reading these entries now, 10 years later, I hear so much in that young girl’s voice — scepticism, nostalgia, hope and caution. 14th January 2009 was my last day of school in Swat Valley. And 14th January 2019 was first day back to lectures for my second term at Oxford University. I look back on the last 10 years with immense gratitude but also anger. Why are so many girls still out of school?”.
Malala has recently launched her own book, ‘We Are Displaced’ in which she tells her own story and shares the journeys of other young female refugees who've been forced from their homes.
