Ex-captain wants Amir in World Cup squad after England thrash Pakistan
After getting thrashed at the hands of England’s batsmen at the third One Day International (ODI), the Pakistani bowling line is under fire as the visitors chased down the massive 358 runs target with 31 balls to spare.
Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has demanded the inclusion of speedster Mohammad Amir into the World Cup squad, as he believes that the bowling attack is working without its leader. “Pakistan does not have a strong spin and fast bowling department, so I believe that Amir should be included in the World Cup squad, because there is no leader of the pack of this [Pakistani] bowling line,” said Raja.
However, Amir’s inclusion is not highly probable after it was learnt that the speedster has contacted chickenpox. It was further reported that Amir is present in London with his family and not with the Pakistan team.
Earlier on Tuesday, England easily won the third ODI by six wickets and 31 balls to spare thanks to top knocks from centurion Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy. With the series 2-0 in favor of the visitors, Pakistan would clash with England in the fourth ODI on May 17 at Nottingham.
