Ganguly predicts Pakistan will play semifinal of World Cup 2019
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganaguly has picked arch rival Pakistan to make it into semi-finals of the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019, scheduled to begin on May 30 in England and Wales.
Ganguly cited Pakistan’s impressive performances in major ICC events hosted in England and their recent performances in the ongoing bilateral ODI series versus England that make them a strong contender in the World Cup 2019.
“Pakistan’s record in world tournaments in England is remarkable. They won the Champions Trophy two years ago, they won the 2009 World T20 in England. Pakistan always plays well in England,” Ganguly told PTI.
“You see the last game in England. England got 374 and Pakistan just lost by 12 runs. They also beat England in England in Test matches there because of their bowling lineup,” he added.
India’s World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has predicated arch rivals Pakistan among the possible semifinalists in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.
“The top three teams in the league stage will be India, England and Australia. The fourth one is doubtful as I expect a group of teams to fight for it. Can be between New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa,” Kapil said, quoted Hindustan Times.
