Shoaib Akhtar 'shocked' that Misbah was not made PCB chairman
After Misbah-ul-Haq assumed two major roles of Pakistan national side's head coach and chief selector, which is a first in the history of Pakistan cricket, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said he was 'shocked' he was not made Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman.
“I was shocked that Misbah was not made the PCB Chairman,” said Shoaib jokingly, in his video message. The speedster was of the view that PCB made the right call in giving dual roles to Misbah, as it was the demand of the hour.
“PCB made the right call, because Misbah is a seasoned man, who knows the working of the system and the selection flaws as well,” he added.
Speaking about the approach Misbah should take with now being a front runner in Pakistan cricket, Shoaib said that the former captain should come out with an aggressive mindset.
“I don’t think Misbah would be a defensive coach, he shouldn’t be so… He should try to produce result in the coming five-six months, his selection should be aggressive which should show that we are serious in bringing change,” said Shoaib .
The PCB announced on Wednesday that former Pakistan captain Misbah has been chosen as Pakistan men’s national team head coach in all three formats as well the chief selector on a three-year contract.
Meanwhile, on the recommendation of Misbah, the PCB also named two-time former head coach and ICC Cricket Hall of Fame Waqar Younis as bowling coach of the national side on a three-year contract as well.
Congratulations to @captainmisbahpk for the new 'dual' role of Head Coach as well as Chief Selector for Pakistan Cricket Team.
I am surprised he is not appointed the Chairman PCB as well along with it.
Hahahaha
i am just kidding. I really hope he does wonders like before :)
