Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday showed annoyance over National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for unsatisfactory investigation against Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani in "assets beyond means" reference.

A division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Omar Sial hearing the bail plea of Durrani in NAB reference against him was not satisfied with the reply regarding the vehicles, allegedly owned by Durrani.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that people in whose names the vehicles are registered didn't show up in investigations despite the issuance of call-up notices.

"Why didn't the bureau nab these people," the court asked NAB and remarked that it reflects ill-will on part of NAB.

Justice Sial also remarked that why no attempt was made to apprehend these people when NAB prosecutor informed that these people have gone underground.

Justice Sial observed that NAB officials didn't know about the investigation and said that Chariman NAB rightly pointed out in his speech in Sukhur few days back.

He said that NAB has left only to level allegation and addressing NAB official remarked, "NAB officials distort the cases by poor investigations".

He also said that NAB official didn't know what is written in reference and asked him whether he drafted the reference or got it from somewhere else.

The counsel for Durrani submitted that his client was arrested from Islamabad, so then what was the need to raid his house.

The court asked NAB investigation officer about the law to raid the house of any person. The court put off the hearing of the case for November 11, 2019.

Meanwhile, Rauf Siddiqui, leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and former minister of Sindh challenged the reference against him in SHC.

Rauf in his petition stated that NAB has filed a wrong reference against him over illegal appointments in Sindh Small Industry Department, which is being heard in an accountability court. The court issued the notices to NAB and others for November 5, 2019 to hear submit their replies in the petition.
