International symposium-cum-training course on 'Molecular Medicine' held at KU

Pakistan is opening up an international programme to invite foreign experts for the training of young scholars in the country through joint supervision of the PhD scholars.

Pakistani people need to be proud of Pakistan as it is one of the ancient lands like Italy and Greece. Regular organisation of international symposiums and conferences will help the government to create real bridges between Pakistan and other counterparts.

The Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi (UoK) has hastened the pace of development in the field of molecular medicine.

Foreign scientists and Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Director, International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) expressed these views on Thursday while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 7th International Symposium-Cum-Training Course on Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (November 04 to 07, 2019) held at the Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi.

Over 700 scientists, including 100 scientists from 35 countries, including Turkey, Iran, Iraq, China, Egypt, Syria, Italy, Nigeria, Greece, USA, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Sweden, New Zealand, Hungry, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, Sudan, Thailand, Oman, Cameron, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, etc. attended the prestigious international event.

Prof Iqbal Choudhary said it was the pressing need of time to train young scholars in the country. Following this need, the international centre is opening up an international programme through the joint supervision of the PhD scholars. ICCBS has invited foreign experts for the training of young scholars in the country, he said, adding that a number of foreign scholars had accepted to be adjunct faculty of at the ICCBS.

Regular organisation of such international conferences will help our government to create real bridges between Pakistan and other counterparts, he said.

He informed the gathering that the international conference had aimed to extend understanding and appreciation of this emerging field of molecular medicine and drug research in Pakistan.

Italian lady scholar Prof Dr Luciana Dini told the local participants to be proud of their country as it was one of the oldest lands on the planet. She pointed out that Pakistan's land was as old as Italy.

French scholar Prof Dr Georges Massiot said that Dr Panjwani Centre had become a centre of excellence for quality research on molecular medicine. This centre has hastened the pace of development in the field of molecular medicine.

Australian scientist Prof Dr Barry Noller appreciated the efforts made by the Dr Panjwani Centre in the organisation of such a useful conference.

The Symposium Coordinator Prof Dr Asmat Salim thanked all participants of the symposium, and said that one of the prime objectives of this symposium was to bring together the leading experts in the field of molecular medicine from all around the world.

Various lectures of the national and international scientists were delivered in the symposium. Meanwhile, Prof Iqbal Choudhary distributed certificates among the participants and position holders of the posters' competition.
