Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday directed the legal team of the government to deeply analyze the decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) for removing the name of Nawaz Sharif from Exit Control List (ECL) and submit a report in the next cabinet meeting, it is learnt.
According to the sources, the Prime Minister would devise next strategy and decision whether or not to file appeal in the apex court against the LHC's verdict after considering the opinion of the cabinet.
Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday permitted to remove former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's name from the ECL without any conditions for a time period of four weeks.
A two-member bench of LHC comprising Justice Ali Baqir Najfi and Justice Sardar Naeem gave the verdict after hearing the petition filed by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on the matter.
The court rejected the condition of indemnity bond to be submitted by Nawaz Sharif.
The federal government had set condition for Nawaz Sharif to pay Rs7 billion surety bond if he wants to travel abroad for medical treatment. The government had also given only one-time four-week permission to ailing Sharif to get his medical treatment in London.
According to sources, the official and party schedule of Prime Minister Imran Khan for Saturday and Sunday was cancelled. The Prime Minister did not preside or hold any meeting on Saturday and Sunday and it is expected he will not take any meeting today (Monday)
The Prime Minister's meetings and party meetings are generally held at his Bani Gala residence on Saturday and Sunday.
Last year, while addressing a ceremony marking the 100 days of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government in power, the Prime Minister had said he had taken only a single holiday since coming into the government."
