  • The bench has also disposed off Maryam's petition.
  • Maryam had requested LHC to allow her to travel to London for six weeks.
  • She is currently out on bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered on Monday the government's review committee to decide on the matter of removal of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz's name from the Exit Control List (ECL) within seven days.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najfi took up Maryam's petition. Her lawyer Advocate Amjad Pervaiz also appeared before the hearing and presented his arguments. After his arguments, the bench disposed off the petition and directed the government's review committee to decide on the matter in a week, local media reported.

In her petition, Maryam said that she wants to go abroad for six weeks. She argued that her name was placed on the ECL without notice. She requested the court to allow her to travel to London to care for her father Nawaz Sharif who is dependent on her since her mother's demise.

Maryam who is currently on bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, made the federal government, the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and others respondents in the petition.

On Friday, NAB had approached the Supreme Court (SC) seeking cancellation of Maryam's bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. NAB requested SC to declare the LHC's verdict null and void.
