PPP to start campaign after distribution of tickets: Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) would start election campaign in Punjab after distribution of its tickets among the contestants for assemblies.

He said that the campaign would be launched from Rahim Yar Khan in south Punjab in a few days.

Talking to Pakistan Television, Gilani said that since the PPP was an ideological party so personalities did not matter for it.

He said that first time in the history of country, his government had provided development funds to opposition members of parliament.

He said that the PPP-led government had launched the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), which was internationally appreciated.

Replying to a question, he said that the south Punjab was ignored by the last provincial government and the PPP after coming to power would remove the deprivations of the people of area.
