The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 285.69 points to 19,752.48 on turnover of HK$65.05 billion ($7.80 billion).

Shanghai soared 2.92 percent. The composite index, which covers both A and B shares, ended up 74.17 points at 2,615.26 on turnover of 104.6 billion yuan ($16.4 billion).
