The City Government spends a lot of money and labour in plantation in Karachi. There are several rare species of very old plants on both sides of the roads.
Last year dates trees were also planted in a large number but the irony is that after planting these tree which are very costly there is no look after and the plants meet their fate soon.
A big number of date's trees are presenting a bad shape with their dry long leaves and nobody cares to check them whether they are still alive.
The other plants, new or old, also need special attention, their branch and off-shoots should be cut, the date trees on Club Road and palm trees on Shahra-e-Faisal, eucalyptus trees on all roads and small seasonal plants should be treated the every month to maintain their beauty and long life.
If possible NGOs or horticulture societies should also be asked to share the responsibilities.
