Different factions of the Pakistan Muslim League will unify in a meeting of Party's General Council to be held in Islamabad on May 12, 2004.
The decision to hold General Council's meeting was taken on Sunday in a meeting held here at the PM House under the chairmanship of PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain will be the president of the unified Muslim League while other office-bearers will be elected by the General Council of the Party.
Announcing the decision, Chaudhry Shujaat told APP that the decision to unify all PML factions had already been taken, and Sunday's meeting was arranged to decide the date of unification.
About agenda of he PML General Council meeting, the PML chief said the General Council will adopt resolution for unification and also elect the office-bearers of the unified PML.
To a question, Chaudhry Shujaat said the increase in number of office-bearers of the unified PML will be decided by the General Council according to the requirement of the Party.
When asked about merger of the National Alliance in the PML, Chaudhry Shujaat said it was decided that the National Alliance will merge with PML after its unification on May 12.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Sunday said that unification of different PML factions would bring further political stability in the country.
Talking to APP after the meeting of different PML factions at the Prime Minister House, the prime minister appreciated the heads of different PML factions for showing flexibility and making unification of PML possible.
"I am grateful for the large hearted-ness and flexibility shown by these leaders," he said.
The prime minister said that PML is trying to introduce new political culture of tolerance and sobriety in the country and this unification would certainly help in achieving this goal.
Jamali said he was completely satisfied with the decision taken in the meeting by different PML factions to unify into one PML.
He said that according to the decision, Shujaat Hussain would remain President of the 'unified' PML.
