Abdul Majeed, acting chairman of Large Enterprises Group (LEG), has congratulated Union of Small & Medium Enterprises (Unisame) on its membership of World Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (Wasme) and said that Unisame is doing remarkable job for the upliftment of SME sector.
Majeed said that the attitude of Zulfikar Thaver, convenor of Unisame, is very pragmatic & positive and he has always guided the SMEs and made them understand that the progress of large enterprises is very important and many SMEs are vendors to the large groups and multinationals and if more large industries are established many SMEs can be accommodated.
Majeed said that neither the large nor the SMEs must be neglected because the large and SME sector both are the wheels of the economy and one is dependent on the other.
He assured full support and encouragement for the SME sector. He said that the employment problem can be jointly solved by the SME & LEG.
He urged the private sector to come forward and set up large industries in the chemicals and synthetics, textiles, leather, and foodstuffs.
There is also vast scope in electronics and engineering and the same must be exploited.
Unisame as a goodwill gesture has proposed the formation of a 'Union of Large Enterprises' and has suggested the name of Abdul Razak Dawood as chairman and inclusion of Abdul Majeed, Abdul Rahim Janoo, Akbar Hashwani, Arshad Mehmood, Iqbal Omer, Siraj Kassam Teli, Salim Kapadia, The Adamjees, The Bawanys, The Habibs, The Saigals and Dadabhoy as founder members with the aim & object of promoting investment in Pakistan and to help the government.-PR
