Red alert at airports over hijack fears

05 May, 2004

All airports put on red alert after an intelligence report indicated a possible attempt to hijack a plane, an interior ministry spokesman said on Tuesday.
"We have put all airports on red alert after intelligence indicating the possibility of an attempt to hijack a plane," the spokesman told AFP.
He did not give details. State television quoting the Airport Security Force said the alert had been enforced after reports that "a group of saboteurs" may try to hijack an aircraft from Pakistani air space or an airport.
