The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday directed Director General, Lahore Development Authority (LDA), to give possession of plot to the petitioner Mumtaz Begum, widow of renowned poet late Habib Jalib.
The petitioner Mumtaz Begum contended in her petition that the government had allotted a plot to her in recognition of services of her late husband.
The respondent LDA officials, however, refused to give possession of the said plot.
The counsel of LDA informed the court that the former chief minister Punjab Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, who was facing a reference pertaining to allotment of the plots, was acquitted from the charges levelled in the reference. Mian Manzoor Wattoo gave the plot in question to the petitioner.
The court observed that the plot in question was allotted to Jalib's widow in recognition of services rendered by late Jalib.
The court, disposing of the petition, directed the respondent LDA officials to give possession of plot to the petitioner.
