06 May, 2004

Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (Piaf) has strongly reacted to the incident of snatching of car from a former President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed and alleged that such incidents would create harassment amongst the business community.
In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, Piaf Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Arshad and LCCI Executive Member Mubashar Sheikh urged the Punjab Government to award exemplary punishment to culprits involved in such incidents so that industrialists and businessmen could have a sense of security.
They claimed that a number of car snatching incidents had occurred in the past too, and in majority of cases victims were from business community.
Tracing out of culprit of even one case could have discouraged such incidents, they observed.
They called upon the Chief Minister Punjab and IG Police to arrest the culprits and award them exemplary punishment.
