Golf tourney starts from May 6

The President of Pakistan Gold Medal Golf Championship will start from Thursday at the Islamabad Golf Club.
At a press conference here on Wednesday, President Golf Club Syed Mohib Asad, who is also a Director General FIA, said that the 3-day Golf Tournament is open for all professionals and amateurs affiliated with the Pakistan Golf Club.
Giving the details of the President of Pakistan Golf Championship, Ahmed Masood, Captain, Islamabad Golf Club, said that this tournament would be played for 18 holes of at least five different categories ie professionals, senior professionals, amateurs, senior amateurs, ladies and juniors.
Senior amateurs can participate in only one category (C or D), he said.
He said that senior professionals are taking part in 54 stroke over 36 and 18 holes each day of 7th, 8th and 9th May.
The main sponsor of the championship, Wilsons & Company has announced over Rs 360,000 cash prize for the winner of professional category while Rs 40,000 cash awards will be given to senior professionals up to 10th position in the championship.
Mohib Asad said that the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Shaid Karimullah would be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
He said that Islamabad Golf Club is hosting this tournament for the last several years after President Zia-ul-Haq's approval in 1978.
