10 May, 2004

Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh, murdered in Stockholm last September, was posthumously designated her country's "European of the Year" on Sunday by the Swedish section of the European Movement.
She received the award for her "strong commitment and her participation in the work that led to the enlargement of the European Union."
Lindh, 46, died a day after being stabbed in a department store where she was shopping with a friend.
In March Mijailo Mijailovich, 25 was sentenced to life for the killing. He claimed to have heard voices telling him to commit the murder.
