Members of the board of directors of the newly-established Pakistani American Liaison Center (PALC) have commended Congressman Dan Burton for holding a Congressional sub-committee hearing on human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir.
The board members, Mossadaq Chughtai and Faiz Rehman, called the hearing a significant step, which helped highlight the atrocities committed on Kashmiri civilians by Indian troops.
"Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai of the Kashmiri-American Council (KAC) and Bob Guida of Americans for Resolution of Kashmir (ARK) deserve appreciation for working with Congressman Dan Burton's office and the PALC for holding a successful Congressional hearing," said Chughtai.
"PALC would continue to work with other organisations to help create better awareness about the atrocities in Kashmir," he added.
The Washington-based Liaison Center has been established to work with soon-to-be created Pakistan Caucus in the US Congress. PALC works with other Pakistani organisations around the US to facilitate community activities and better understanding of issues related to Pakistan and the Pakistani-American community.
