Nims organises annual open house

The Nust Institute on Management Sciences (Nims) organised Annual Open House-2004 at its campus here to provide common platform understanding between industry and future economic managers.
Presiding over the inaugural session, deputy chairman Planning Commission Dr Mohammad Akram Sheikh underlined the role of academia in furnishing industry with high quality human resource for enhancing productivity.
He lauded Nims for making an invaluable contribution to business education in Pakistan.
He expressed the hope that Open House 2004 would offer corporate representatives an insight into the talent that Nims was preparing for assimilation into the professional world.
In his welcome address, DG Nims Dr Dilawar Ali Khan briefed the participants about the academic activities of the institute and its future plans.
He emphasised the need for a network of quality business schools and hoped to develop Nims into one of the premier business schools in the country.
The welcome address was followed first by a comprehensive presentation on Nims by an MBA student and then by another student on "Rise and Fall of the Investor's Confidence."
Speaking on the occasion, Rector National University of Science and Technology (Nust) said the academia and corporate sector shared allied interests, which were best served by the creation of viable platforms facilitating mutually advantageous interaction.
He urged the faculty, management and students to continue working with deep commitment in order to fully realise the Nust mission and vision.
