PPPP to boycott parliamentary water body meeting

17 May, 2004

Leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly, Nisar Khoro has termed the parliamentary water committee as illegal and said that PPPP would not be a part of any dialogue on water issue if discussed in the committee.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Sunday, Nisar Khoro said that he has been invited in meeting of parliamentary committee which is scheduled to be held in Karachi on Monday (May 17), but my party will boycott the meeting as it does not want to weaken the Sindh's point of view on water issue.
"No member of the opposition was included in the committee, all the members represent the ruling alliance, who give unilateral decision on water reservoirs", he said.
Khoro said that only Council of Common Interests (CCI) could resolve the water-related issues.
He further stated that after the bloody by-election everyone was feeling insecure. He demanded immediate removal of Chief Election Commissioner and probe into the rigging.
