Rs 300 million being spent on government servants' houses

Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Chaudhry Zaheeruddin has said that the government is spending Rs 300 million on the construction and repair of residential houses of government employees during the current fiscal year.
While talking to a 20-member delegation of students of City and Regional Planning Department of Engineering University, Lahore here on Sunday, he said that 119 schemes of houses and offices, were being executed during this year out of which, 62 schemes would be completed till June.
Chaudhry Zaheeruddin said that the project also included construction of barracks and hostels for police official in different districts. He said that the government is promoting merit-driven culture in the departments to up-root corruption.
He said that the government is also spending huge amount of Rs 300 million on the development of industrial sector, which would result in generating job opportunities to the optimum level. He further said that the Chief Minister Punjab has focused the uplift of common man.
He urged the students to extend guidance to the government for evolving civic policies in view of growing requirements of accommodation. He said that urban planning is of high importance for growing requirements of the cities.
