Move to convert power plants on gas system hailed

President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Tahir Majid Kapur has appreciated the decision of the government for converting power plants on gas system.
In a press statement, he said that Wapda and a private power company "Ravish" had converted thermal power plants on gas as a result the production price would be 92 paisa per unit.
The SCCI chief urged the high-ups of Wapda that adequate measures should be taken for converting remaining private power plants on gas system for minimising over all cost of production of electricity, which would certainly enhance the income of the Authority definitely.
Tahir Kapur said: "The cost of production of different exportable products has been increased due to higher electricity tariff in the country as a result of which the exports are affected adversely while the process of promotion of industries had become standstill."
"The poor people," he said, "are facing serious hardships due to price hike and keeping in view the problems the Wapda should provide relief in electricity bills to facilitate the common man in the country."
In order to boost industrial sector, Wapda should reduce electricity rate for industrial, commercial and domestic consumers immediately, he added.
The president Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) opined that the provision of inexpensive electricity to the industrial sector would be much supportive for minimising the cost of production of industrial products and its impact on exports would be positive.
