FAO regional moot: Sikandar leaves for China on May 17

Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister of State for Food, Agriculture and Livestock will pay a weeklong visit to China from Monday to attend the 27th FAO Regional Conference for Asia and Pacific.
The conference is being held in Beijing from May 17 to 23. It will be participated by agriculture ministers from 22 member nations.
The participants will discuss food security issues and priorities in their respective countries. They will particularly focus on adopting common strategy for reducing poverty and hunger.
During his stay in Beijing, Sikandar Bosan would also hold meeting with Chinese Minister of Agriculture, Du Qinglin.
They will discuss, ways and means promoting mutual co-operation in the field of agriculture and livestock
Official sources told APP that Pakistan will seek Chinese help for improving domestic production of oilseeds, sunflower and canola, as well as enhancing co-operation for maximum utilisation of their land resources.
The Chinese side has already extended its co-operation for introducing co operative farming and improving per acre yield of various crops in the country.
Chinese state-run companies have significantly contributed to development of major public sector projects in Pakistan.
They can also help a lot in the development of agriculture sector, particularly for providing agriculture machinery and equipment's.
They have also offered Pakistan desalination technology to sanitise Seawater to the meet the irrigation needs. "This technology can bring a revolution overcoming the problem of water shortage in the country," the sources added.
