Pakistan's turnaround

02 Sep, 2004

President Musharraf has been proclaiming that he has turned around Pakistan. I congratulate him on his regime's successes.
He recently quoted the example of two government organisations, which in his opinion have progressed by leaps and bounds. These are namely Railways and PIA, which are being run by persons of his choice and in whom he has reposed a lot of confidence in their administrative capabilities.
PIA recently offered its shares to the public and a few, who ventured to invest in them have reaped the harvest of this turnaround.
Railway has yet not offered any shares to the public, which I am sure is eager to invest in this organisation also.
The President has also praised Defence Housing Authority's residential colonies for their success story. Perhaps he meant the profits made by the original allotees.
Except for some recent debacles like Siachen, Kargil, East Pakistan etc, there are many achievements that our valiant forces can boast of like banks, Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Cereal, Law and Order, real estate development, etc.
