The lawyers' community will observe black day on January 10 in protest against President General Pervez Musharraf for keeping both the offices of the president and the COAS. The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has decided to observe the day in pursuance of decision taken in a meeting of the representatives of the lawyers, saying on January 10, the lawyers will hold protest meetings, hoist black flags on the bar buildings and also wear black stripes.
Resolutions will also be adopted in the meetings to be held on the day, it added. Moreover, the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), in a meeting here on Saturday, finalised strategy for observing the black day.
LHCBA President Ahmed Awais told newsmen that the lawyers would show complete solidarity on January 10, adding that General Musharraf is neither constitutional president of Pakistan nor COAS.
He asked General Musharraf to quit the office of President of Pakistan immediately, and urged the lawyers to forge unity in their ranks and continue struggle for a true democratic set-up.
