Plan chalked out to expand role of motorway police

The government has chalked out a plan for expanding the role of motorway police so as to improve the transportation system of Pakistan. Minister of State for Communication Engineer Shahid Jamil Qureshi said this while talking to Business Recorder after the book launching ceremony here at Alhamra Arts Center on Tuesday. He disclosed the control of recently constructed coastal highway was also being given to the motorway police.
"We have already completed deployment of motorway police on Grand Trunk (GT) Road and Multan Road", he added.
To a question, he said the deployment of motorway police on important roads of the country would help check the complaints pertaining to law and order situation. To another question, he said the tenders were being invited for the Ravi Bridge Tool Plaza shortly. He further said the control of all roads connecting to the main roads of the country, like motorway and GT Road, were given under the control of federal government agencies like NHA.
Earlier, addressing the launching ceremony of "Mabadolat", a book written by a journalist Arifa Subah Khan, he said that that book was a valuable addition to the literature. He also appreciated the writings of Arifa Subah Khan.
Among others, Dr Salim Akhtar, Dr Ajmal Niazi, Tariq Aziz, Mowahid Hussain and Qudsia Lodhi also spoke on the occasion.
