HEC asked to consider three degrees equivalent

National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC) has recommended that Higher Education Commission (HEC) should consider the three degrees ie, MS Rural Sociology, MA Social Anthropology and Population Science equivalent. National curriculum committee also recommended that federal public service commission and all provincial public service commissions should recognise all the three degrees.
In this regard, the committee decided that each university should establish a "rural sociology research cell" in their department, for which higher education commission will provide funds in this regard.
National curriculum revision committee also recommended that HEC should provide funds to concerned departments chairman/ chairperson for establishing the research cells.
In this connections PC-1 may be prepared for establishing research cell addressed to director planning and development, HEC, Islamabad. NCRC recommended that HEC must take steps to improve the curriculum of sociology.
The committee was given the task to prepare the draft curriculum of four years bachelor, MS and Ph.D. programmes in sociology.
The committee also suggested that postgraduate students must have at least one published paper before the award of Ph.D. degree.
