Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz met President of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at their residence on Sunday and discussed with them the matters relating to local bodies polls, reorganisation of the party, budget, law and order, in addition to development of various social sectors. The Prime Minster lauded the implementation of reforms programme and pace of progress in the province and expressed the hope that the provincial government will discharge all its obligations regarding holding of local bodies elections.
The Prime Minister further said that federal government along with the provincial governments is implementing a comprehensive policy to eradicate poverty and to raise the living standard of the poor masses.
PML chief Chaudhry Shujaat on this occasion informed the Prime Minister that membership campaign of PML is being executed successfully and it is being ensured that the office-bearers and workers should display full unity, discipline and harmony so that reorganisation of PML is completed at every level. He said that the party was fully capable to face the challenges ahead.
The chief minister greeted the Prime Minister on the approval of what he said 'a people-friendly' budget, besides achieving the 8.4 percent growth rate. He said high growth rate was achieved due to economic strategy of President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
After local bodies elections, the district government system will further improve and strengthen, as it is a great source of solving people's problems, the chief minister observed.
The chief minister on this occasion also briefed the Prime Minister on various ongoing development projects in the province and the arrangements being made for the local bodies' elections.
