Rs 20.241 million cattle market contract endorsed

Tehsil Assembly (TA) has endorsed Rs 20.241 million contract of three cattle markets, which were approved by the Tehsil Nazim after open bidding. Tehsil Assembly met here on Saturday with Sajjad Khan, Naib Nazim and Convenor Tehsil Assembly in the chair. Members from Opposition parties have expressed deep concern over the callous attitude of Tehsil Municipal officials and termed it a
bureaucratic attitude towards masses. They said that devolution of power Plant was introduced to empower masses but the bureaucrats in TMA are still playing with the emotions of common people.
The resolution for endorsement of contract of cattle market was put before the house and after criticism from opposition and treasury members the house has approved the contract of cattle markets. The TMA has awarded contract of Channi Alam Sher cattle market to Mumrez Khan on his highest bid of Rs 20 million. The contract was Rs 4.4 million more than the previous contract of Rs 15.6 million and Rs 9.4 million more than the target set as Rs 10.6 million.
The contract of Ranial cattle market was also awarded to same contractor on his highest bid of Rs 200,000 which is Rs 50,000 more than the previous contract. Dhad Hamer market contract was given on Rs 41,000.
The Assembly had hot debate on the progress of development work and opposition members have targeted Tehsil Nazim, Naib Nazim and tehsil officials for delay in completion of the projects.
The Convenor adjourned the house till Monday, which would be the budget session and the Rs 1202.319 million budget of Tehsil Municipal Administration would be put before the house for approval.
It may recall that prepared a surplus budget of Rs 1202.319 million for the fiscal year 2005-06 and at the end of the year TMA have a surplus amount of Rs 61.197 million.
