Parts of city on Tuesday received first showers of the season due to a low pressure developed over Northeast Arabian Sea that moved towards Northwest and lies about 300km Southeast. The people, who were braving scorching heat for the last many days and with mercury reaching 40.8 degrees centigrade on Tuesday, had some relief after the rain.
The sea conditions are likely to be rough near the coast and very rough in deep sea. Fishermen, especially small boats, have been advised not to venture in the open sea.
According to the Meteorological Department, the thunderstorm is likely to move in a westerly direction. Under its influence, winds at sea and along coast might blow from south-east to north-east at 25-30 knots with gusting of 40 knots.
It said the southern divisions of Sindh and Balochistan coasts are likely to receive light to moderate showers accompanied with strong winds, ranging between 35-40 knots during the next 24 to 36 hours.
