President General Pervez Musharraf said on Monday Pakistan was focused on socio-economic development of its people and pursuing a series of mega projects to translate recent economic gains into visible improvement in the lives of the people at grassroots level.
The President was speaking to President Asian Development Bank (ADB) Haruhiko Kuroda who called on him. Having achieved higher economic growth, we are now in the process of realising basic health care and electricity for all Pakistanis by year 2007," he said.
Pakistan, he said valued the Asian Bank's contribution to Pakistan's development. The ADB chief said the Bank viewed Pakistan's continuity of policies and high economic growth with great appreciation.
He renewed the Bank's commitment to Pakistan's development in the years ahead. Minister of State for Finance Omar Ayub Khan and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Division Hina Rabbani Khar were also present on the occasion.
