US MIDDAY: sugar at two-week low

Raw sugar futures settled Friday at a two-week low on fund sales and liquidation from players getting out of positions in the spot contract before it expires at the end of the month, brokers said.
The New York Board of Trade's May raw sugar contract dove 0.65 cent or 3.6 percent to end at 17.12 cents a lb, dealing from 16.90 to 17.77 cents. It was the lowest close for sugar on the spot daily charts since 16.85 cents on March 23.
July slid 0.61 to 17.22 cents. Losses in the back months ranged from 0.35 to 0.60 cent.
