Neck to neck fight expected in LSE polls

After withdrawal of nomination papers by 15 out of 25 candidates, one-to-one contest will take place between the nominees of Syed Asim Zafar and Gp-Captain (Retd) Naeem A. Khan groups in the forthcoming elections of the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE).
Polling for the elections of five broker directors of the exchange will be held on December 16, 2006. Syed Asim Zafar and Gp-Captain (Retd) Naeem A. Khan, who themselves are taking part in the elections, are leading their respective groups.
Both are former chairmen of the LSE and both have been declared fit for contesting the election by the scrutinisers. Both Syed Asim Zafar and Gp-Captain (Retd) Naeem A. Khan, are striving hard to win support of voters in favour of their candidates.
According to brokers, the participation of Syed Azim Zafar and Gp-Captain (Retd) Naeem A. Khan, once they contested election from one platform, itself is of much significance, which has turned the situation very interesting and a neck-to-neck competition is expected to take place between the two sides on December 16, 2006.
The scrutinisers have declared list of the final candidates and announced two panels ie Panel-A and Panel B. Panel-A is led by Group Captain (Retd) Naeem A. Khan and is comprised Dr Arsalan Rafique, Syed Ismail Abbasi, Gulfam Ahmed Khan Sherwani and Abid Majeed Chaudhry. Panel-B consists of Syed Asim Zafar, Omar Khalil, Amar-ul-Haq, Shahid Mahmood and Adeel Zafar.
