An amount of Rs 0.3 million plus were distributed among 200 victims of Lal Shahbaz Housing Scheme of Sehwan Development Authority (SDA) district Jamshoro by the provincial management of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a "cheques distribution ceremony" held at Circuit House Hyderabad on Friday.
Major General Mukhtar Ahmed director general NAB was the chief guest of the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, Major General Mukhtar Ahmed said that Lal Shahbaz Housing Schemes was launched by SDA which was supposed to facilitate the people but unfortunately some officers of its management fleeced the poor people through agreement with a marketing company, charged high income from the allottees illegally and even kept the received income in their personal bank accounts.
He said during investigation 1480 people were found victims in this scandal and NAB after taking legal action, started recovery from the defaulters. He said that after two and a half years of struggle we came in position to compensate the victims from recovered income and today about 200 victims are receiving their due amount through cheques.
He said that remaining affectees would also be compensated in due course of time. Later talking the press he informed that amount from Rs 20 to 25 million has been recovered from the defaulters of Lal Shahbaz Housing Scheme of SDA till yet. He said that NAB was conducting inquiries without any political discrimination.
Later, the Major General Mukhtar Ahmed D.G. NAB, Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh Nuzhat Pathan and Zila Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil gave away the cheques to the victims of Lal Shahbaz Housing Scheme.
