10 Dec, 2006

Babar Awan, PPP-P leader and counsel of PPP-P chairperson has said that national accountability bureau (NAB) has lost its sanctity and credibility after showing its inability to take action against the persons involved in mega scandals including sugar, fertilisers, stock exchange, steel mills and railway engines purchase.
While addressing a press conference, here on Saturday, Babar called upon NAB to arrest all the persons including Prime Minister, provincial chief ministers, federal and provincial ministers and others involved in mega corruption cases.
He said rulers are using NAB only to victimise their opponents, otherwise they might be behind the bars under other law including Anti-Corruption Act.
He said that NAB had taken action against Benazir Bhutto and other opponents of the present rulers at the behest of their high-ups with malafide intention only to victimise them politically.
He said that government had initiated proceedings against Ms Benazir Bhutto in different references but found nothing against her. He said that government had spent huge amount on the references against BB but failed to prove even a single reference against her.
He said that present rulers are trying to stop Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif from contesting forthcoming general elections. He said Ms Benazir Bhutto could contest general elections and also become a candidate of president of Pakistan also.
He said that present rulers are afraid of growing popularity of PPP-P and trying to stop Benazir from coming back to Pakistan. He said the government has started media trial of Benazir Bhutto.
