According to latest flood situation, River Indus was in low flood at Guddu on Friday where a discharge of 237,332 cusecs was recorded upstream and 199,214 cusecs down stream. However, the river was normal at Sukkur with an upstream discharge of 190,330 cusecs and 131,040 cusecs downstream.
It was also normal at Kotri with a discharge of 97,655 cusecs upstream and 62537 cusecs downstream. According to up to date situation report, floodwater is flowing between MNV Drain left side with heavy pressure of water on Supro Bund.
Seven relief cuts were given in left side bank of MNV drain upstream of Gozo village to reduce pressure on Gozo village and Supro Bund. The banks of Khuda Wah from RD 0 to RD 40 are being strengthened.
Irrigation Department sources said all efforts were underway to control the situation. Meanwhile, water from the breaches on right side of the MNV drain is flooding between MNV drain and outer side of FP Bund and there was heavy pressure of water noted.
The gushing water reached the right side bank of Johi Branch and pounding along its banks between MNV drain and FP Bund. Water pressure has reduced in Shahdadkot-Kamber district and efforts are underway to close the breaches in FP Bund at RD 179, 184 and all other channels and drains, where water pleasure has reduced. The level of Manchar Lake was recorded at RL 112.80.
