FTO directs CBR to reopen impugned order

Federal Tax Ombudsman, Justice (Rtd) Munir A. Sheikh on Friday directed the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to reopen the impugned order-in-original, issued by the Deputy Collector (Adjudicator) Lahore to the Complainant.
This decision was taken by the Federal Tax Organisation (FTO) on the complaint of Askari Woolen Mills Lahore against Deputy Collector Sales Tax (Adjudication) Lahore who had issued an order-in-original to the complainant and asked him to pay sales tax, additional tax and penalty. The FTO has ruled out that the Department has committed an act of maladministration, a FTO press release said here on Friday.
The FTO has recommended the CBR to direct the competent authority to reopen the impugned order-in-original under Sales Tax Act, 1990, set it aside and, get the facts and figures involved in the case reconciled and pass a fresh speaking order on the basis of the outcome of reconciliation in accordance with the provisions of law after providing the complainant the opportunity of being heard and compliance be reported within 30 days of the receipt of this order.
