'Effective steps being taken to ensure women rights'

The government is taking effective steps to ensure protection of women rights as enjoined in Islam, which is the true guardian of women rights. This was observed by Chief Minister's Task Force on Human Rights chairperson Ayesha Javaid while talking to a 10-member women delegation of different local NGOs at her office here on Monday, says a handout.
She said that violence against women was not only the issue of developing nations, but of the developed as well, adding that criminal justice system of the developed countries, however, was found most responsive to gender based violence. Violence against women badly damaged human development goals, causing depression and psychological dysfunction in the victims, she observed.
Focusing on effective behavioural change towards women rights, she said that awareness and education in this connection was of great help, and urged representatives of the NGOs to transfer knowledge with the aim to foster the cause of women rights.
