Problem at post office

24 Jul, 2007

With reference to article (May 2007) on the subject, it is intimated that there is one departmental P.O. also working in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area and one FPO-2003 at Erum Shopping Mall Block-13 providing postal facilities to the inhabitants' of the area.
A signboard for indication of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block-14 has already been fixed on the main road. The view of the complainant regarding delivery of mail twice a week was discretely probed and was not established. However, the concerned ASPOs have been directed to ensure instant/regular delivery of mail and the concerned Postmaster has also been directed for similar action.
The plea of the complainant that there is a shortage of postmen has no concrete reason, because postman staff has already been posted beyond the sanctioned strength.
The contention of the complainant that the post office is situated deep in the residential area is justifiable to some extent but the present post office is situated in a post office building and it is not possible to shift the same to rented building due to huge rent and effort made for the purpose. But an amount of Rs 70,000/- has been demanded by the landlord, which is not feasible for the post office department. The concerned ASPOs have also been directed to ascertain suitable place for shifting of existing post office on nominal rent.
