Partly Facetious: need to make people accountable

24 Jul, 2007

"So what does it all mean?"
"That the powers of the judiciary and the executive have been separated."
"But..."
"And the President and the Prime Minister have accepted the judgement."
"Did they have any other option?"
"Not in today's charged temperatures but tomorrow as they say is another day."
"Why are you being so pessimistic?"
"Because so far no heads have rolled...I mean if the President of a country has been given advice that is not based on facts, to say the least, then those who advised him need to lose their jobs."
"What about those who provided affidavits against the CJ?"
"Them too and the fact that the President thinks there is status quo is not quite the thing to do...accountability you know is very important and..."
"Accountability Bureau needs to be alerted first of all."
"Right and charges brought against these people."
"But I think the judgment is historic and instead of blaming any one..."
"It's not a blame game - my point is simple: make sure that this does not recur and for that you need to make people accountable."
"That's true even Bush has been made accountable in recent months."
"The latest is his injunction not to torture enemy combatants."
"Human rights groups say the intelligence agencies should not be allowed to make foreigners disappear."
"And what about what our agencies are doing? Not only making foreigners disappear but also Pakistani citizens."
"I thought the Lal Masjid fighters were foreigners."
"Till their Pakistani parents claimed their bodies."
"Ah yes embarrassing that...accountability..."
"In your dreams!"
