Karachi-A, Faisalabad-D and Azad Jammu & Kashmir won their matches in the PFF Youth Soccer Cup played at different centres on Tuesday. Faisalabad-D suffered defeat at the hands of Faisalabad-C 2-1.
The losers failed to cope with the rivals' display and lost the tense match, a spokesman of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) said. Usman Manzoor struck the opener in the eighth minute for the winners and midfielder Rizwan Ali made it 2-0 by grabbing a pass following break way in the 29th minute. Faisalabad-C pulled one back in the 60th minute through winger Raja Ali but they failed to earn equaliser despite several inroads.
In the other match, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) showed fine display. They were at one stage 1-2 down but recovered quickly to make it 4-2. Both the teams were 1-1 at interval. AJK were the first to settle down and opened scoring through Bilal Nasir in the 17th minute but Islamabad turned the tide with goals by Abdul Hafeez (24th minute) and Atif Waheed (39th minute).
AJK's fast moving winger Umair Ali turned out to be the hero in second session with two sweetly timed goals in the 49th and 57th minute, as AJK clinched the issue 4-2. Other scorer for visitors was Ali Manzoor in the 53rd minute.
In another match, Karachi-A defeated Karachi-B 4-2. Zakir Lashari consolidated the winners with double strike in the 7th and 27th minute. Karachi-B reduced the arrears in the 35th minute with Mohammad Ayaz sooping the ball in from close-range. Karachi A, 2-1 up at interval, scored two more goals through Maqbool Ahmad (75) and Zubair Ahmad (81). Ayaz scored his second goal in the 87th minute. Wednesday fixture: Karachi-A v Karachi-B, Faisalabad-A v Faisalabad-B, Peshawar-A v Peshawar-B.
